In the not-too-distant future (Friday), they will heckle Pretty Woman at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown.Heckling duo returns to AlamoDrafthouse original show reincarnated to poke fun, adds comedian for one nightBy Alex NavissiDaily Texan StaffThe men of Master Pancake Theater have added the first female ever, comedian Martha Kelly, to its ranks for a monthlong engagement of the popular '90s classic Pretty Woman.John Erler and Joe Parsons formed Master Pancake Theater after the dissolution of the Sinus Show at the Alamo Drafthouse. However, the concept behind their program remains very similar.We watch stupid movies and make fun of them. On top of that we incorporate sketch and a couple other ways to play with the medium of film, Parsons said.If the premise also reminds you of Mystery Science Theater 3000, there's a reason.I was a huge rabid fan of 'Mystery Science Theater,' and it may out me as a nerd, but I went as Joel one year for Halloween, and 1 made robots to take with me, Parsons said.One key difference between Sinus, Science and Pancake is that Master Pancake Theater only has two permanent members, with a rotating heckler filling out the cast. This month's special guest is Kelly, a stand-up comic who was voted Funniest Person in Austin in 2000 and has been showcased on programs like The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.We're 91 percent certain that 'Conan the Barbarian'will be our next movie. We could just play the commentary ... Arnold is simply reciting what is goingon onscreen.Joe Parsons,Master Pancake Theater memberbased their decision on their love of a popular sitcom.We're huge 'Seinfeld' fans, and we wanted to do a movie with Jason Alexander in it, Erler said. He plays the slimiest lawyer character, and at one point there's a straight-up rape scene [involving Julia Roberts]. He's deliciously horrible in that movie.Pretty Woman may be a girl movie, as Parsons called it, so for all those looking for something with more testosterone, stay tuned for upcoming screenings.We're 91 percent certain that 'Conan the Barbarian' will be our next movie, Parsons said.
