Debra Chalquisf presents recitalDebra Lee Chalquisl, 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Chalquisl of vSchuykr, was presented in a piano recital Sunday afternoon by her instructor. Miss Isabelle Micek, at the laller's studio.Debra has attained honors in the Lions Club talent competition in this area and recently earned a “highly superior'’ performance raling at the Nebraska Music Teachers' Association district piano audition - at Hastings College. She will represent Miss Micok’s studio at the state auditions atthe University of Nebraska-Lincoln in November.In addition to private lessons, Debra is a student in musictheory and is a member of the National Society of Li Mu, an organization for Hie serious-minded student of music.Debra is in the eighth grade in Schuyler Public school, is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and is a sport* enthusiast.In Sunday's recital, she presented the following program:Two-Part Invention in B-flat Major, No. 14, Bach; Sonata in D Major (Allegro con brio, Largo e sonstenutu, Presto, mu non Iroppo), Haydn; German Dance, No. i, Beethoven* Walls in G-Flat Major, Opus 70, No. 1, Chopin; Nocturne in E-FlaL Major, Opus 9, No. 2, Chopin; Valse in E Minor (Posthumous}, Chopin; Clair do Lime from Suite BiTgciiiiasqut.1, Debussy;Two Bagatelles (Opus 5, No. 1 in C Minor. Opus 5. No. 3 in D Major). Tcherepnin; Variations in D Major, Opus 40. No. 1, Kabalevsky.As an encore, she played Autumn Leaves, by Kosma.Reception Followed the recital.
