KANSAN VISITS MATTOON FIRST TIME IN 47 YEARSMr. and Mrs. Alva Downey have returned to their home in Wellington, Kan., alter a week’s visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David W’lson and Mrs. Clara Wilson. Mr. Downey is a cousin of Mrs. Clara Wilson and Mrs. Cora Cline. He is a son of the late Isaac Downey of Neoga, and lived with his mother and stepfather, William Landrus, on a farm east of Trilla before moving to Kansas 47 years ago.This was Mr. Downey’s first visit here since that time. He was very much impressed with the improvements in the city and rural areas. Mr. Downey has been an engineer on the Santa railroad since 1910.
