W. Grand Sire of the Grand Lodge of tho I uitcd States. In this county, Potomac and Ml. Moriah Lodges, :he former of Hagerstown and the latter of Clearspring, and perhaps also some other Lodges, celebrated the ct» nt iu an appropriate manner.The member* of Potomalt; Lodge met at their Hall at 10 o'clock A. M.. and thence marched iu proce*ion, headed bv lleyser’s Sliver Cornet Hand, which discour-ed some of it* sweetest strain# of music, through the principal streets of the town, to Lyclt; :im Hall, where, after prayer by the Rev. J. F. Ockcrtnan, and the ‘inuring of an Ode written for the oclt; -siou, Isaac II. ilc-C an ley, E»q., ol Chamber#burg. delivered au Address. We did not hear the Addres#. hut understand that it abounded in eloquent reflections, and w as universally regarded by the membership and others who heard it as one of the best that has b** n de'hercd to the Lodge for i number of vears.To allow the rapid progress ot odd Fellowship since Its organization in this country iu lfcl*, when three or four men in Baltimore consulted together w 1th a view of starting it, we may state that it number# over a quarter of a million of members. There are in tius country 2,62u Lodges and 587 Kncampmeuts, the former having an aggregate membership of 189,12*, and the latter of 27,593. The greatc -t number of Odd Fellows are in Pennsylvania, wher« th*rr are 474 Lodges with T1,71*8 members, sad loo Luc unpments with 5,y44 members. The Order is wide-spread, and extends to ucsirly averv State aud Territory in the I nion. During the year ending June 30, 1*00, there w ere 20.177 pet sons init.ated into the Order. During that time, the total receipts were $1,730,666.60. of which $003,052 were paid out for various charitable purpose#.
