Home tour venues for '93 namedSherman house on tourThe home of Creighton and Becky Sherman, 223 N Eagle, will be open for the 30th annual Marshall Historic Home Tour on Sept. 11-12.By Chronicle StaffThe year of 1993 holds a unique anniversary for Marshall. It’s been almost 30 years since the first Historic Home Tour.The sponsoring Marshall Historical Society has issued its list of historic homes, museums a church and a downtown business for the 30th annual tour, to be held Sept 11-12 this year.Advance ticket sales have begun and the tour brochure is close to publication. For tickets, write to the Marshall Historical Society, Box 68,Marshall, MI 49068. Hie cost is $10 for each ticket and advance tickets must be ordered before SepL 1.We are pleased that this year’s tour will include five homes never before presented for the fall tour,” said Linda Rasher, co-chair with Mary Jo Bryne this year.’’Marshall should be proud that even after featuring 130 historic structures over 29 years of fall tours, we could still find five more beautiful historic homes to add to the tour this year,” she said (The society also sponsors a winter tour, the annual Christmas Candlelight Walk.)The “new” homes on tour are owned by Jim and Lori Feldpausch (1894 Queen Anne) at 116 W Spruce, Rick and Carole Huggett (ca. 1885 Queen Anne) at 211S. Marshall, Dick and Peggy Armour (ca. 1885 modified Queen Anne) at 306 N. Marshall. Gregg and Judy Peters (1893 Queen Anne) at 332 N Eagle, and Carroll and Marilynn. Phillips (1926 bungalow) at 509 E Green.Other historic homes on tour are the Hannah Carey home (1841 Greek revival cottage temple) at 122 N. High, the Tom and Lucy Franke home (1858 Italianate) at 410 N. Eagle, and the Creighton and Becky Sherman home (1844 Italianate) at 223 N. EagleThe home tour will feature two historic downtown buildings — the First Baptist Church (1851) at South Grand and West Michigan; and Design Studio East, in an 1869 building at 115 E. Michigan Marshall’s oopular museums will again be open during the tour Historical society museums are the Honolulu House, Capitol Hill School and the GAR Hall, featuring Civil War memorabilia. The Mary Marshall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will offer tours ot the historic Governor’s Mansion, Postmaster Mike Schragg’s Unitcc States Postal Museum, on the lower level of the post office, will be open for the tour.
