School Board sClerk Is CitedFor ContemptIRONTON (Jt\—The clerk of the nearby South Point school board was cited for contempt Saturday by Common Pleas Judge Warren S. Earhart. The clerk, Rex Miller, was accused of refusing to allow an Iron-ton newspaperman an opportunity to take a second look at the board’s records.Judge Earhart also ordered Miller to remove the board records from his home and place them atthe disposal of the public. The judge suggested keeping the books at the South Point high school.Earlier, Judge Earhart had ordered Miller to lay open the books for public inspection. The court’s action was taken at the request of Clarence Pennington, city editor of the Ironton Tribune.Pennington only got one look at the records when Miller’s attorney, J. Earl Pratt, informed him that was all he was entitled to under court order. Pennington appealed again to the court.Judge Earhart said no fine or sentence was imposed on Miller because he had acted on advice of counsel. The inspection order followed a student strike which protested the firing of two teachersby the board. No reasons for thedismissal were given.
