Editor Journal:—The Tennysoman j caLiterary Society held one of the most enthusiastic meetings last Friday night it has had for several months. Besides an excellent and well rendered program consisting of recitations, declamations, duetts, solos, orations, etc., there was a debate. Subject: “Resolved,That Miss Ida B. Barton, Mr, Hilliard James, and Mrs. Laura Mere-! n dith, retired and made their decision in ! t favor of the affimative.Rev Mr. McMilliu is holding a series of meetings at the Baptist church this week.Mr. James Robinson is smiling allover—it’s a boy.The two young men from Barton and Cherokee cut a big dash among our girls last Sunday. 1 don’t know which was the most successful, but rather t think Mi.NS Wilson won.Miss Pearl Ashford, the charming young lady teacher of South Florence attended the Literary last Friday night and several of our boys want to visit herschool-room.Tuscumbia is visited by nu re tramps , than any other town of it size in Ala- j.1 ibama.A lady who is nearing that detestable age at which one is called an “old maid,” said the other day that there was no young men here, and she was going to catch her a boy, ami we really believe she would.
