Largestttendance In HistoryExpectedt Boy's State In JuneThe largest Boys State in the history of the Arizona citizenshipprogram, sponsored by the American Legion, will be held June 3-9on the campus, according to Delmar Layton, Mesa, director of theprogram.For the first time there will beboys in attendance from a foreign country. Two American boys whose homes are in Mexico City, Mexico, will attend the 1961 session of Arizona Boys State. They will be accompanied by an adult counselor. The boys and the counselor are sponsored by the American Legion post located inMexico City.Director Layton stated that this is a program of training that has been started by the legionnaires in Mexico. They hope, by sending boys to various Boys State programs in the United States and also sending adult counselors, that they will be able to build up a nucleus which will make possible the holding of an American Legion Boys State in Mexico in thenear future.program this year.
