At right are descriptions provided by clerks of suspect sought In robbery that same day at Hayes Market in Numine.By Anne Walker BowserStaff WriterPolice now believe that two different men committed the robberies of two Armstrong County convenience stores on March 19, despite similarities In the appearance of the robbers and the way the robberies were committed.The Armstrong County Crime Stoppers Is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for Information leading to arrests.Trooper Michael Llptak, Investigating officer in both robberies, said the Incidents definitely involved two different men. since the man In the first robbery was completely cleanshaven, while the thief In the second robbery, an hour and 10 minutes later, had a beard of “four or five days growth. He said he could not speculate on whether the men were working together.During the first robbery at 8:30 p.m., a man entered Hayes Market in NuMine and asked for change. When the counter clerk opened the cash register, the suspect reached over the counter. took money from the drawer and then displayed a knife. He fled the scene. Tne clerks at the store did not see a vehicle.The robber was described as a white man In his 20s, 5 feet 7 Inches to 5 feet 9 Inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds.The two clerks who wereworking at the time bothdescribed him as having black wavy hair, a full lower lip and a mustache, but differed in thetr descriptions of his other facial features. He was wearing a dark Jacket and blue jeans.During the second robbery at 9:40 p.m., a man entered the 422 Mini Mart In Klttannlng Township and asked the clerk for change. When the register was opened, he reached over the counter, took money from the cash register and fled In a rust-colored 1983 or 1984 Ford pick-up truck with a white cap.At some point during the robbery, he displayed a knife.The second robber was described as a white man in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 160 to 170 pounds. He had dark brown medium length straight hair, and was wearing a dark shirt with pin stripes and blue Jeans.Authorities are asking anyone with information on the robberies to contact the state police at 543-2011, or the Armstrong County Crime Stop pers at 1 800 545-STOP.
