MRS. J. C. VARNELL HONORED WITH FAMILY REUNIONThe country home place of the Varnelbs on the Fort Hood highway was the scene of a family reunion recently, on the birthday anniversary of Mrs. J. C. Varnell.All her children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren werepresent, with the exception of one granddaughter, Mrs. Lou Varnell Schmidt, of Lubbock.Dinner was served at noon to 29 members of the family. Relatives and friends who called during: the afternoon were served birthday cake and coffee. The large birthday cake was baked by Mrs. Curtis Varnell. Iced in white, it was decorated with green shamrocks, and the words “Happy Birthday, Mama Nell.”Gay birthday napkins, shamrocks and spring flowers completed the table decorations.Mrs. Varnell received a numberof gifts and cards, and pictures of the family group were taken. Mrs. Carrie Patterson assisted with hostess duties.Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Varnell and children, Martha Frances, Elizabeth Ann, Maurice, Waco; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Varnell and son, James Curtis, Austin; Mr. and Mrs. Briscoe Nixon and sons, Harold andJimmie, Belton; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Blaylock and sons, Wayneand James Carlton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Holcomb, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hoi com, Mrs. Bertha Ramsey, all of Temple.Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cass.
