The Cedar Rapids Republican says G. W. Kuek, of that city, has a curious document which is in effect a certificate of deposit. It dates from 1806, and is still good, the money being forthcoming on personal presentation at the bank of England. The paper is old fashioned, rough and yellow, and the printing is of the old style, long s’s predominating. Following is a copy of the document: “Four per cent annuity, consolidated April 6,1770. Received this 21st day of January, 1806, of Messrs. Gerhard Kuck and George Kuek the sum of ten pounds, being the consideration for twelve pounds twelve shillings four pence, interest or share in the capital or joint stock of four per cent annuities, consolidated April 6th, 1780 (erected by acts of parliament of the 17th and 20th years of the reign of His Majesty, King George III, both entitled An act for raising a certain sura of money by way of annuities and for establishing a lottery, and by several subsequent acts) transferable £.t the bank of England, together with the proportional annuity attending the same by this day transferring to the said Gerhard Kuck and George Kuck ”
