Tuesday:Sunday when we come home from Sunday School, the radio was on and a man was talking. We soon recognized him as Mr. E. G. LeTourneau the evangelist. So while we listened the more we all wanted to go to Lock Haven and hear more of him. The folks in town said “come early’1 or you won’t get a seat, so that's what we did and I just never heard anything like that man's story.I could have stayed the night out listening to him. He had so much to tell; he didn't tell anything at the second or third church he talked at. He just seemed to get done the impossible things. After preaching either three or four sermons Sunday, he was going to Washington to fill a pulpit down there after supper. How he gets all the things done is more than I can see. Even by flying I don’t see how he could do all that.We drove down to see his plane before he took off. It looked awful big among those “little birds.”The Bearded ManWhile we was still in the Baptist church we saw the cutest man with whiskers. I asked several people who he was, but they didn't know, so I said, “I guess I’ll have to ask him.” They didn’t think I would, but evidently they didn’t know me.I went up to shake hands with him and I asked him his name, he laughed a good natured laugh and said I have two Bible names Israel and Ruth.” I asked him which name come first and he said “Israel.”(That reminds me when I was a girl working down at Mr. Jake Getz’s. Another Mr. George Washington Getz asked me my first name and I told him “Clara.” He said no it wasn’t Clara either it was Crider. He said I had that name before they hitched another name on).Getting back to the pleasant little man with long whiskers he says. “Ever up to Marsh Creek?” I told him I was.. He said “Well, that’s where I live ”Perfect Santa ClausI was down to Adam Waltz’s one time and his dad was there, he had white whiskers most a foot long and a plump round face—a perfect Santa Claus. He said it w'asn’t safe for him to go out alone around Christmas time. The kids thought he was a make-up and would puli him all over the place.House PartyA grand house party was held Monday night at Junior Copen-haver's.Mr. and Mrs. Frank Copen-haver, Jr„ and daughters, Carol,Euth, Mary, Betty were there with little Sandra. Not yet three. She was a perfect little hostess. When she saw someone put on their coat to go, shewould go to the door, wait until they got there, open the door, see them off, usually invite them back, then close the door and be ready for the next bunch.Stuck In the MudA little while ago three boys from your city drove in here with a little truck wanted to look at some deer in the held. It was awful dark and we told them to keep on high ground or they may swamp. They obeyed, saw some deer eating, left and went on to visit other places. If they had of been satisfied with that they would have made out fine, but they just had to see them again, so back they came and out in a different field theywent to their sorrow.Curtlc, the tallest boy, come in to be towed out, the more they tried the deeper in the mud they got. So the old Fordson was dug out and its lucky enough to have those iron spike wheels on, that is just right forsuch Jobs.I guess they made it. I can hear things coming back now. But a person can easily pull them out, they are good boys to come and help pull us out when we need a fellow badly in the hay rush.Household HintNow, ladies, If you have one of the old mops that you flop open and put a house-cloth in don’t throw it away when you get a new mop, for if you put asmall cloth, or an old piece' of underwear leg, or any kind of cloth, wrap it around the wire or fold in real short, you have the best kind of easy to use varnish brush.I just did two oversize rugs in about ten minutes. Pour little puddles of the quick drying linoleum varnish on, rub that spot and you are done in a jiffy with a good job done and no backache or loss of time.Try it and see. I won a bet on Mrs. Lester Funk, maybe someone will bet me on varnishing.See you all Friday night at our church.Fire Insurance AgentWas Right on the JobATLANTA, (API—A customer ordered bacon and eggs In Mrs.ic.
