March' 25.--T2iesenate hao eon firmed the appointment of Charles M. Webber as post mar,ter at; Urbana.The foregoing telegram shows, that the last barrier to Mr. AVebber's installation as postmaster of this city has been removed, as everyone believed it would he. AThe opposition admitted that- it didn't havt; a leg to stand on when a protest -was made to United States Senator J. Hamilton Lew is, through the chairman of the democratic county central committee. No charges could be honestly preferred against Mr. \febber and that, with full substantiation , would have been necesvs^ry to prevent confirmation of hlaappoinunent. The ruction was due to his selection by Congressman Borch* nrs, when about ninety per cent, of Urbana democracy had endorsed bd* other fellow by petition.Opposition to the appointment of Charles B.
