Thomas J. Ward was chosen chairman and H, W. Curry, secretary.A motion prevailed to the effect that all the candidates be required to pledge themselves to support the nominees of the convention which they did prompt* \Philip Long,John D. Bodine,Lindsey Edington and H. M. Shores were placed in nomination for trustee. The fourth ballot resulted in the nomination of Lindsey Edington, he having received a majority of thirteen votes over J. D. Bodine in a total of 166 votes.Remainder of the ticket is as follows: —Assessor,Orson Shirley; Justice of thepeace, William Watson; Constables, Otis Morrison, William Vermillion and Wm. Downs. This convention goes onrecord as being the largest, most harmonious and enthusiastic of any ever before held in the township.The candidate for trustee is a man of sterling worth and possesses good business qualifications. He will make a most excellent officer and his election si a foregone conclusion.Orson Shirley,candidate for Assessor, is as industrious as he is energetic, is well qualified for the office to which he aspires and his popularity insures his election beyond a doubt.In fact the entire ticket is as good as could have been made,and will be elected by a good majority if every Democratwill do his, duty.H.
