The EscapeHONORABLE MENTIONV\ hen the war first started there were a company o' British soldiers. They were fighting day by day and they gut so tired they had to stop and be captured. Then they had to march a long way. The Germans put them into dirty cars and took them to camps and gave them black bread to eat and some of them died with hunger.A few weeks later they put them to work at different things and they earned some money. After a while four men planned to get away. One of the men had to put the lights on. One night the lights were hard to get on and the man that looked after the lights let the other three men have twenty minutes* start. After a while ho got the lights on. Then he ran away nad caught up witl the other three. s 2Next day they lay down because troops of Germans were passing by. That night they passed Germai guards. The men said Good-night.” Then the Ger man guards got wise. They walked right by the four men but did not see them. The men ran and the guards fired twenty rounds at them, but did not hit them.The men walked a long way and came to the French border. They thanked God.
