Tee 0mu.—The Milwaukee - Musical Society entertained the regalar subscribers on Monday evening with MuXart’e splendid opera of “Zaubcr Rotte, -or “The Magic Fluta, in a style; which was unexceptionable. Young’s Hall was thronged with'a galaxy of fashion and beauty, and seldom hare we seen an opera given with so much spirit end confidence in the performances w in this euro. The scenic effects were Tory good and the machinery worked well, and nothing maned its beauty. The orchestra was perfect, and under the Baton of the “Balatka” of the West, would vie with any in the Union. As the performers are amateurs, it behooves us-to throw all criticism aside and credit all with a foil measure of praise. In fact we should be doing great injustice to the dramatis persona as well as the choristers, if wo did not compliment them highly on their efforts. One word for Mrs. Balaika.— We understand that the lady, to whom the part was assigned, in consequence of a family bereavement, had to surrender her part, and In the emergency—in a short forthlgh t—Mrs. Balatka prepared herself for a fery responsible and arduous pan, and she acquitted herself as the Songstress remarkably well, and on two occasion! was encored—a compliment well deserved—by PapninsfWe shell not bo invidious enough to single ont any on* for a complimentary aUurion; Suffice it to tty, the part* of Sarastro, the Prater, and Oronta, were splendidly performed. The peerless “Queen ofKlght”—although her share of the Opera was light—warbled deliciously, and entranced her admirers. Tatnino and Papgcno displayed in'each their peculiar taste in bye-play and acting.
