German,if $\*THE MORNING HERALD - THE EVENING STANDARD'iCopFayette Tournament WinsGerman pulled away from a tough Geibd club with a rally late in the third period as German posted an 87-71 victory over the Connellsviile entry Inlast night’s action in the Fayette Undergraduate Tournament. ■ In the opener, Mount Pleasant recorded an 89-72 victory over-Southmoreland, despite a record-tying performance by Jim Kiebler,Kiebler pumped in 32 points in a losing effort to tie the standard set by Dan Gerard.German and Geibel finished the first period deadlocked at 17-17, the third such stalemate in the opening quarter, fourth.The victors stretched the lead to in the half on a bucket by Vince Kopec for their largest jpad in the opening two periods,but Tony Prudente hit a jumper and made a tayup in the final 20 seconds of the period to bring Geibel back to within three at 37-34.The contest remained tight In the opening portion of the third frame and the lead was 4745, German with 2:47 remaining.
