The floor plan is in the form of a cross, with the nave and chancel forming the uprightarm and the transepts forming the shorter crocs arms. Early Colonial details are most pronounced in the sanctuary, reflecting early Americans’ desire for plainness without severity. The choir stalls in the chancel are divided, as in earlier churches, while the pews are paneled similar to those found in a New York City church more than 100 years ago.
