The detective testified to having found fever* »1 articles used in the raising of the hank notes. The building in which these thiiies were round was a small one, haying but one room, and in that the three men. David and William Lock ridge and Wm. Lemon ate and slept. The clothes in which the eircumstaneial evidence was found were hangiug on the wall, and the punts, brushes and pens were on a cup-toard in the same room Itixln. The crown put in evidence a couple of hills which had been operated upon hy Detective Foster, and Mr. Thos. .Sharpe. This was dune for the purpose of proving that the outfit of paints and brushes C'lithl he used for the purpose of disfiguring mitilatinK hank notes. They compared favorably with those found in the p/cket-buok, if anything they were more etrefullr done. At times as the evidence was strong against him. a ruddier glow came over his ruddy countenance, and there was a dead calm throughout the audience as the details were given.Chief of Police Kirkcnldy was an mi p»rtant witness f»»r the crown. It was he who accompanied Detective Foster on his tiip ’othe lock ridge homestead, and assisted in the arrest of the two.
