Birthday Surprise.Sunday, March 17, was the seventy-fourth birthday of Mr. H. P. Shore and his relatives and friends took advantage of the oecassion to rivr him »genuine surprise and that they suc-| ceeded admirably, Mr. Shore himself does not deny. The event was celebrated the preceding day which was passed in feasting and merriment. Those present from abroad were Mr. and Mrs. Ilurst of Madison and Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan of St. Edward,Mrs Horst being a daughter of MrsShore and Mrs. Vaughan oeing adaughter of Mr. Shore, and also MrsAlva Dawes of Polk County, daughter of Mr. Shore and Mrs. Tannehlll fromthe valley, niece of Mrs. Shore and J.Vaughn of Fullerton. A number ofMr. Shore’s former neighbors aDd friends from north of the city were j also present. The affair was very en-1 joyable and greatly appreciated by | both host and guests.
