Last mouth Mrs. Plummer gave her in at i*e*v iui K reciiui ul uaiuu: andj children’s songs. An article published I in connection with the likeness says: “Songs for children are written by many persons and sung by many more, but there are few such songs the words and music of which are composed by the persons who sing them. Beatrice Hubbell-Phnnmer of Los Angeles, Cal., a writer of verse, a comjioser of music, aud a singer, delighted a New York city audience last month with a recital of children’s songs. The words were hers, the music was hers, and she fairly bewitched her hearers with her voice. Mr. Emil Polak, at the piano, an able interpreter of music, shared the honors with Mrs. Plummer, for every time she was made to repeat a song she would take the accmpanist by the haml and make him bow with her. The recital was given in the morning in the Princess theater. It was the first public appearance of Mrs. Plummer in New York, and no. singer ever received a more enthusiastic welcome. Particularly pleasing was Mrs. Mrs. Plummer in the songs: ‘Didn’t Want to be Washed,’ ‘Intution Told Her,' ‘Fraid,’ and ’Baby Boy's Lullaby’ Her voice, clear, sweet, lesonant, true and ringing, in spite of song fairly talked the words and their meanings into the hearts of her listeners. The children in the audience never took their eyes off her as she sang. They scarcely breathed for fear of losing a word of the interesting story she was telling in the song. The words, music, voice and listener were always in perfect harmony.”I
