For the choicest o|lovenests, penthouses, airy castles | and apartments have been preparedfor them, an alluring group o( which have been turn*d in in th*Gazette Good Times club birdhous* contest.Final entries In the contest must he turned in at the Gazette office by 5 p. m, Saturday. The intriguing homes for feathered friends which have alieady been entered, a number of which are highly ingenuous in design and equipped with the choicest up-to-date conveniences, may he viewed in the Gazette lobby. The entries will be judged early m-xt week.For a large family of martins, a roomy home, white with an attractively contrasting red roof and an imposing weather \ane, hasbeen built by Elmer Love, a student at the school for the blind.Elmer, one of the most ardent friends of feather folk In this vicinity, has entered three bird homes in the contest, and also an artistic feeding station of the revolving type and a robin shelter. The other homes are for flickersand chickadees.Suggestive of the castle-in-the-air type of home, a windmill-shaped martin house with a wind wheel which spins about zestfully when moved by frisky zephyrs, has been submitted by Arthur Kronrie, 1314 South Jackson street. Resplendentin green and silver, the home is one rf the most attractive-appearmg thus far entered.Two wren houses, one an elongated h» x type, and the other a neat cream-colored residence, have been entered by Gordon Hudson, Milton Junction.Although rot for cuckoos, acuckoo-clock type of wren hlt;*;ne. with pine cones for weights, entered by Herman Kletnp, 9014 Riverside street ih one of the most ingenuous houses on exhibit Twolog cabin types of w ion houses have been submitted by DanielCourtney, f-1# South Pear! street, and Francis Harry, 220 South Ja- k-son street. A neat wren home built of bark has been entered by Frederick Durham, 431 South River street.The school for the blind with lfi homes Irads in the number entered. Twenty-eight entries had been registered up until Saturday noon. A number of the homes are for sale, some at very attractive prices.
