IrishContinued from Page 1Afinding more about her Alabamaroots.“I found out about this common ancestor through the New England Historical and Genealogical Survey,” Deaver said. “We are connected by two ancestors who moved to Limestone Omnty from South Carolina.”Cornelius and his brother William both fought in the Revolutionary War. Cornelius died at age 91 in 1956 in Morgan County. Deavers great-grandmother was from Alabama, just south of Decatur, and moved to Texas where she raised her family.“I traveled to Decatur and started digging around for family names and found kinfolks who knew my great-grandmother.” Deaver said.Deavers said she is also related to Owen, Wiley, Sanders, Dowdy, Hubbard, Lew ter, Howard. Veneable, Clark, Lewis. Hine, Price. Davis, Crenshaw, Coleman,Brown, Batts and more - all surnames found in Limestone County who have a common family link to Ireland.Deaver has been tracing her family tree for years and even drew a family tree in 1982 in which she adds names as she finds relatives.“I am most interested in descendants of Cornelius and William Malone,” Deaver said.Cornelius obtained land in Limestone County in 1818. He was also a member of the Quarterly Conference of the Limestone County Circuit District of the Methodist Church.Deavers said with a laugh that when she found out she was related to the president, her daughter said, “Mom. don't tell anyone that!”She replied, “He’s human just like everyone else. He is no more important as president than teachers or newspaper reporters. All of our jobs are important.”
