Singer, governorlead weekend eventsJoe Feeney on Friday and Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and video game stars on Saturday ... Ottumwa is getting its share of VIP visitors.Feeney, the Irish tenor featured on the Lawrence Welk show for 28 years, will be in concert at Indian Hills Community College auditorium at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 each, with profits going to help rebuild the Knights of Columbus Hall.Branstad will be here Saturday for Ottumwa’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. He’ll also present an award recognizing Ottumwa as “video game capital of the world.” That presentation will take place at 9:30 a.m. at Twin Galaxies arcade, 226 E. Main.A large contingent of video game stars has been invited to participate in the parade by Walter Day, the man who owns Twin Galaxies and who put Ottumwa on the video game map with his international video scoreboard and January’s North American Video Game Olympics.The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, wind down Church Street across Market Street Bridge, then head to Main Street where it will turn east toGreen Street. It will go north on Green to Second Street and then west to Market and up Market to Fourth Street.The parade disbands at St.Mary’s.After completing theparade route, Branstad will leave Ottumwa airport around 11:30 a.m.Other major events this weekend and next week include:• Friday through Sunday- The 23rd Annual YWCA Antique Show and Sale at the Ottumwa YW, 133 W. Second; $3 admission.• Saturday — Ottumwa Evening Lions pancake day, 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Church and Ward. Pancakes cost $2 in advance, $2.50 at the door, for adults, children 12 and under $1.50 and preschoolers free. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Ottumwa Police Department’s canine unit fund drive.• Saturday — YWCA Tour of Homes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with buses leaving every half hour from the YWCA. Admission is $3.50 cents for the bus (optional).• Saturday — Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, 7:30 p.m. at Indian Hills Community College auditorium.
