Ed Sullivan Hosts Variety Of TalentLOS ANGELES—Janis Joplin, George Bums, Ed Ames, Chet Atkins, Floyd Cramer, Boots Randolph, Scoey Mitchell, Jacques d'Amboisc and Honey Ltd. are guests on “The Ed Sullivan Show,'* live and in color from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, Sunday, March 16 8-9 p.m., on the CBS Television Network.Janis Joplin will perform with her new band. Miss Joplin exploded on the national scene in the summer of 1967 at the Monterey Pop Festival. Ever since there has been a devoted following for the star with the husky blues voice, who spills out emotions with tough gentleness in a three-octave range. “Cheap Thrills,” recorded by Big Brother and the Holding Company when she was the group’s lead singer, was one of the most popular albums of 1968.♦ ★ *GEORGE Burns, one of America’s most beloved comedy stars, will deliver a humorousAmes will offer a number of popular tunes.Guitarist Chet Atkins, pianist Floyd Cramer and saxophonist Boots Randolph will present solo renditions of instrumental numbers and also team up with excerpts from their country and western show which is touring the country.★ ★ *SCOEY Mitchell will do a comedy routine.
