Local Dairymen Attend Annual CVBA MeetingAttending the annual meeting of the Cache Valley Breeding Association Saturday, March 10, at Logan. Utah were 26 members from Star Valley. The meeting was held in the Forestry Building on the Utah State University Campus.Guest speaker, George Cleveland. director of extension service. University of Idaho, Moscow, stressed the importance of efficiency in dairying in order to survive the rapid pace of today’s agriculture. Mr. Cleveland pointed out the necessity of good breeding, good feeding and proper management.Other speakers were MorrisTaylor, extension marketing specialist, Utah State University. who reported on the structure of the farmer-owned co-op; and Ross Olson, CVBA field-man, who reported on the success of daughters out of CVBAbulls. Mr. Olson reported thatthere were 18 herds in the state of Utah with an average of over 550 pounds of butterfat, and 16 of the herds had CVBA daughters.The Osmond Brothers Quartet from Salt Lake City sang several numbers on the program. Rulon Osmond, CVBA district supervisor, arranged for theboys to sing at the meeting.After the meeting, luncheonwas served in the Union Building, and the afternoon was spent at the CVBA headquarters and bull barn looking at the 36 sires.Larry Cain, president of the board of directors, conducted a board meeting held in the afternoon. Star Valley members serving on the board are Alden Brower of Freedom and Reed Gardner of Afton.
