Obituaries [George W. StewardGeorge Washington Steward, 82, of Springfield, W.Va., died Sunday, March 13, 2005, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.Mr. Steward was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Springfield, the son of William Newton Steward Sr. and Elsie Caroline Moreland Steward.He retired as an iron worker with Local 568, Cumberland.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a life member ofVFW Post 6667, Fort Ashby, W.Va.He was married to Betty Katherine Crock Steward. (Surviving with his wife are two sons, Ray Steward and Michael Steward, both of i f Springfield; two sisters, Mary , Nelson of Springfield and Cora- Wendell of Ft. Ashby; three grandchildren; and three great-i grandchildren.5 An infant daughter, Char- ,y lene, is deceased as are a sister, Betty Maphis, and five 1- brothers, Floyd Steward, ( 1 William Steward Jr., Howardt Steward, Harry Steward and 1 John Steward. ii A funeral will be at 11 a.m.at the Shaffer-Wamick Funeral f Home, Romney, W.Va., with 1 the Rev.
