Top Pop Group-DWU Students Slate Concert HereRARepresentatives of the Dakota Wesleyan student body signed on the dotted line last fall, and thereby engaged a Los An* g e 1 e 8 recording group whose tune was number 64 in the national surveys.They picked a winning number. Within two weeks, the group’s record was in number two spot. It was recently number one.The recording artists are The First Edition and the popular record Is “I Just Dropped In to See What Condition My Condition Was In.”The increased fame and prestige of the musical group is a bonus for the Wesleyan Student Association and for residents of this area. Under terms of the contract signed last fall, The First Edition will appear in a student - sponsored concert at the Corn Palace March 13,The students have opened the concert to the public and are conducting an active advance ticket sale campaign. Advance tickets are $2, Box office tickets will be $2.50. The concert is at 8 p.m.Upon reaching number one apot in the surveys, The First Edition group has performed with the. Ed Sullivan Show, The Johnny Carson Tonight Show, and the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.Tom Smothers says, “The First Edition is a rare find, a beautifully bound group whose music goes straight to the heart and mind of today. The roots of the group's music goes back tothe rich fields of folk music, blues, jazz, hardroek, country ■and the classics, but the catalyst that creates their new sound is found in the individual taionts of the group.”Heading the Student Association's Big Name Entertainment Committee, which made the selection and arrangements, are Doug Hoehn, sophomore from Wyckoff, N. J.; Joe Vancavage, junior from Hasbrouch Heights, N. J.; and Stan Monk, sophomore from Princeton, N.
