Exhibit Of Wood Co rvingsOn Display Here TiroItJtI'he world-famous $300,000 Potvin exhibit of wood carvings will be on display in Burlington for a period of two weeks beginning tomorrow morning, according to an announcement received today.The showing of the exhibit issponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce.The exhibit will be set up next to the Bamby Bakery on East Front Street. No admission will le charged, but voluntary contributions will be accepted from spectators. Proceeds from the show-ing will be used by the Jaycees for various civic causes.This display contains 14 scenes carved by Moise Potvin, a Freneh-Canadian violin maker, who spent25 years in whitting out the exhibit with a pocket knife.One setting alone, which shows a Victorian family engaged in home activities, is valued at $35,000, according to reports.Another scene, entitled “Samson and the Lion,” has won 32 first prizes in w'ood carving contests throughout the world.The scene which has proved to be the most popular with spectators is the replica of a blacksmith shop with animated characters and objects. This scene shows one blacksmith working a bellow-s, another shoeing a horse, a workman drilling holes in a wheel, and two checker players in aciton.Other popular scenes are “The Face Upon the Barroom Floor” and “The Story Without Words.”This exhibit is now on its fourthtour around the world.The display will be open daily from 10 o'clock a. m. until 11 o’clock p. m., and on Sundays from 1:30 until 11 p. m.Ilr*I\1r1♦l
