Mrs. Katherine Neal Simmons Honoree At a Delightful AffairOne of the moBt distinctive social af * fairs of the week was the one of Wed. nesday afternoon when Mrs. Katherine Neal Simmons of Portland, Oregon was complimented by Mrs. Ted Saylos who watfrat home to the musical people of Abilene.The handsome Sayles home in AltaVista was in gain attire for the occasion. Lilacs and peach blossoms used in profusion added daintiness and beauty and fragrance to the lovelyreception suite.Guests were received hi' Mrs. daySchneiders. The hostess then presented the lovely and charming honoree. Friends reooiving with Mth. Say-les were Mesdames S. C. Parsons, W. Walter Campbell, Henry Bayles 8r., .1. L. Machen, Cheathem, L. W. Hollis. Ji^, Ju(\m Bailey, Misses Frances Urban, Lucille Auten, Catherine Guitar and Julia Sayles.Delicious sandwiches and grape ice were served )y Misses Ruth ,a*td Anrrte Bess -ChJtmbers. Dainty plate favorswere corsages of violets.This delightful and informal hour with Mrs. Sayles and Mrs. Simmon^was enjoyed by a number of callers. Mrs. Simmons, who is one of the lead ing muaiclans of dhe Pacific Coast, 1* in Abilene the guest of Mrs. 8. C. Parsons and is appearing in recital •this evening at the Htgi* School Auditorium. It was a great pleasure t$* the musicians of Abilene to personally meet this distinguished artist.
