Stevens, weremt on parade, with their Ilo^e Cart doc-irated hv the American flag.At the close of the day, the merry hellnave notice that the sun-light had disap-icared and the time for the torch-light andire-works display was at hand. No soonr ind twilight appeared than the streets werehronged w ith people of every age. Thamestrret was filled with a pretty compact massf living beings. The Court House, Town lull, ('use’s Building, Sues Office, Swin-nirn’s Block, and a large number of other mildings and stores were brilliantly illuminated ; while a number of beautiful Ian-eras, transparencies Sic. w ere hung acrosshe streets in e\orv direction. About 70Vclock, Hope Engine Company No 4, (the Tigers) ('apt. Sherman, with full ranks, made their appearance—marching through [he streets with their torches attracted much attention. Next came Protection Company No (the Honey ilees) Capt. Tisdale, escorting No. 2 Engine Company (RoughiV Ready) Capt. Allman, who were theirquests for the evening. N(*. was pre-eded by the C. S. Their new machine was neatlv dressed with flow-ers and wreaths.About 10 o’clock the tyvo companiesyyith a number ef invited guest*, sat down to a collation prepared by Mr. Isaac It Spooner, at the Touro St House ;—which was altogether above the ordinary standard of festivals of this description, both as regards the variety of the viands and the spirit of social enjoyment that prevailed among the assembly throughout.
