HONOR PLACES IN | CLASS ARE DECIDED Ia•c- - — ......■« IAfter a meeting of the members of the High School faculty the honors for the Cass of 1912 were awarded yesterday to Eoline Mitchel andJames Herron ae valedictorian and salatatorian, respectively. The com-petition for the leading honors was ' very keen, there being three content- : ants within almost one point of the other. Miss Mitchell’s average was 89-315 per cent while that of Mr. Herron waa 83.633 per cent. (The graduating class this year numbers, nine, the third largest class that has ever been graduated. Since ] the graduation of the first class w i ‘ 1904 there have been six other classes j ■ and the class of 1912 will bring the total up to eight. During this time 1 46 students have been graduated from the High School and with this year's class a total of 55 will have recei Ad their diplomas. The total enrollment for the schools at the end of the fifth school month was 2119 and that of the High School alone. 123.On last Tuesday, the members of the graduation class met and elected officers for the remainder of the current year and the result was as follows: president, William Lerman; vice-president, Katherine Brightweiiand secretary-treasurer, dames Herron. The motto ia, 11 Excelsior, ” meaning. *'l am going higher.*’The colon are the same as those of Last year,, blue and gold and the red rose is the fiower selected. The Historian, poet, Donor* Orator and Prophet will be selected later. The Kxcercisea this year will probably be held in the opera house, but the j date has not been definitely decided I m as yet by the School Board. j
