—The contest of pupils of Miss Brenda Fischer on Saturday evening was an event of great interest to the pupils and their parents and friends. The contestants numbered about forty, though more had entered upon the work but had been compelled to quit on account of illness. The judges were Mrs. Robert Winslow, Mrs. IiJessie Emery, Mrs. (Dr.) Schwin and Mrs. (Dr.) Baumgartner. The awards j were as follows: First grade, Mona; Martin; second, Robert Knevels; ; third A, Mildred Sypher and BessieEmery tied; third B, Helen Schwin,• +with Claire Sanborn a close second; fourth, Eva Krau first and Lela Big-ham second; fifth, Emily Brennan first and Gresham Randall second; sixth, Teddie Geiss, Wilma Harter and Winifred Billows tied for first place and Josephine Brodrick, Esther Kessler and Helen Punches for second. Mesdames Schwin and Emery did not act in the contests in which their daughters engaged. A social time, with popcorn as refreshments, was enjoyed after the program. The students are now beginning work for the annual May recital.
