Natchez Pilgrimage opens with royalty presentation(Picture on section page)NATCHEZ— Opening of the 1967 Natchez Pilgrimage Saturday featured two five-house Itours and the unique evening entertainment, the colorful Confederate Pageant. Climaxing the pageant was the presentation of the Pilgrimage Garden Club’s king and queen, Keary Elvin Burger and MissMimi DuPre.The lovely young queen Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson DuPre of ElkHorn Plantation. Frogmore, La. and Natchez. Her. reign takes place 25 years from the time her mother, the former Miss Mimi Brown, played the sameglamorous role as the Pilgrimage Garden Club’s Queen of the 1942 Natchez Pilgrimage.Miss DuPre’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frederick D. Brown, Jr of Natchez. Paternal grandparents are Mrs. 0. D. DuPre ofGadsden, Ala. and the late Mr. DuPre. A graduate of Gulf Park College, Gulfport, MissDuPre is a sophomore at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.The young king is the son of Mrs. Elvin H. Burger of Natchez and the late Colonel Burger. Maternal grandparents are W.K. Collins of Pineville, La., and the late Mr. Collins. Paternalgrandparents are the late Mr. Noblesville, Ind. He is a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the University of.Southern Mississippi. •The Natchez Pilgrimage will continue through April 2, with two tours daily.
