Debbie Weagel of Legend will be in Nashville this weekend auditioning for the television talent-search program, “You Can Be A Star.”Legend singer to try out for Nashville TV showDebbie Weagel spends most of her weekends singing This weekend will be no exception, but she will be singing for more than a night's pay.The Colorado Springs woman, a member of the country rock band Legend, was chosen to audition for the Nashville Network’s talent-search program called, “You Can Be A Star ”Weagel was one of 120 people selected from 450 audition tapes to visit Nftshville and perform two songs for a taping.Debbie has sung and played keyboards with Legend for three years. The group, which also features Kent Weagel on bass and vocals, Willy Snell on rhythm guitar and vocals, Don Parker on lead guitar and vocals, Hob Duncan on drums and Mike Harriman on sound, has performed locally at Jack and Judy's, Golden Pond and the Erin Inn.The winner of the ‘‘You Can Be A Star” auditions is given a year’s recording contract.Showcase is a regularly appearing column that features local entertainers and acts appearing in the Colorado Springs area.
