MRS. WALKER IS NAMEDZETA WOMAN OF YEARMrs. Hattie Brown Walker, wife of the late Rev. J. Franklin Walker, former pastor of the Metropolitan Baptist Church, has been selected the Woman of the Year by Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority from nominations made by various local women's organizations throughout the city.Mrs. Walker was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown. She graduated from Temple University and has done further work at the University of Cincinnati; took special work at Columbia University of New York City in School Library Administration, and finished branch library work at the Main Library of Cincinnati, Ohio.Mrs. Walker has 'served 27 full and rewarding years as a librarian; 2 years at the Main Library and 25 years at the Stowe Branch Public Library of Cincinnati.She prganized the Inter-Denominational Ministeral Wives of Cincinnati and vicinity. She served as Chairman of the Religious Education Committee and as a member on the Board of Management for thjee termsof the Y.M.C.A.Mrs. Walker achieved fame as a librarian, retiring with honors. Cincinnatus said in the Cincinnati Post, A grateful, public servant retires. She made a real contribution to the work of the library and I believe also to inter-racial understandings, said Librarian Vitz.Mrs. Walker is the mother of Mrs. Breta Grannum, a teacher in the Cincinnati Public School System, also the mother of the late Mrs. Helen Walker King, a former teacher in the Cincinnati Schools, and a well knownsoloist.
