STANLEY—The programme here thisweek contains at least three features of exceptional interest anti entertaining value. The lirst of these is tin* first showing of luuClaire, the Keiasoo stage star, in a delightful pieturizaCon of. Polly \V itb a Past,” the stage play by George Middleton and Guy Bolton, which is still pleasantly remembered. It was thisplay which brought Miss Claire, for nearly a year now engaged in enacting the principal role in “The Gold Diggers,” to stardom. Then the return of Henri Scott, the famous operatic bass-baritone, for another week, is announced. Mr. Scott scored such a tremendous success a short time ago that the management received many letters from music lovers urging that he be reengaged. Mr. Scott’s other engagements prevented his retention for a second week then, but he was able to spare this week in Philadelphia andwill be heard in new- selections revealing his wide range of voi£e, expressionand general vocal artistry. The third important feature will be a pretentious fashion show, a review of inodes exhibited by- shapely living models who will present the authoritative Paris fashions for Easter, spring and even summer. Gimbel Brothers arranged this review and all the accessories and costumes were furnished by them. About every designer of prominence will. be represented in the exhibit. The Concert Orchestra will add to the enjoyment by playing special numbers. Thepicture of Polly With a Past” willsatisfy a widespread and lively curiosity and interest. And Belasco means thehighest degree of theatrical artistry in America. It is said in New York that ihfs producer can by the sheer skill of his handling take a play liable to failure in other hands and work it into a decisive hit. And in the transference of “Polly With a Past” to the screen the producers have had the benefit of the tireless and experience of the theatrical master as a foundation. The result of this, combined with the splendid work of June Mathis, who caught all the gay brilliance of the stage play in adaptting it and the master hand ofMaxwell Karger, director general, who staged and supervised personally the production of the piece, means that patrons will see in this re appearance of Ina Claire m “Polly With a Past” on the screen, one of the finest and most enjoyable productions of the current season in the Cinema world. The star is fortunate is not only having a delightful play, but in her support a strong and capable aggregation of players, including Ralph Graves, Marie Wain wright, Harry Benham, CliftonWebb, Louizata Valentine and Myra Brooks. The story of “Polly With a Past,” has to do with a young girl, come from the country to study for the operatic stage,but forced by circumstances finally to be a housemaid. There the friends of Rex Van Zile, in an effort to interest that impressionable young man from another woman they detest, prevail upon Polly Sharon to assume a past of an interestingly brilliant hue. And there, properly, or perhaps, improperly the story really begins. An added attraction will be a new Too-nerville trolley comic. It is announced for the information of lovers of organ music that each morning at 11 oYJock there will be a special recital by talented players on the magnificent new'rtrfrnn in this tllAJltrf* *
