“HONEY BOY” EVANS DIES SUDDENLY IN BALTIMOREFamous Black-face Comedian Realized His Critical ConditionSpecial tp The Inquirer.BALTIMORE, Md., March 5.—William George (“Honey Boy' ) Evans, one of the best-known black-face comedians on the stage, died this afternoon at the Union Protestant Infirmary. Mr. Evans had #been sick from stomach trouble fora long time. He spent last summer here,but at the beginning of the season joinedhis company. He played in Baltimoreduring the week of December 14, but his condition was such that he was unable to appear at the matinees.Lately he has been touring the South with his company and about three weeksago was compelled to leave it in Birmingham, Ala. On Wednesday he arrived inBaltimore and went directly from thetrain to the infirmary. He evidently realized that he wras in a critical con-1 dition, for he gave certain instructions; to be carried out in case of his death. Thursday afternoon he requested Mr. j Shay to go to New York and bring his Iattorney, Dennis F. O'Brien, to Baltimore to see him. Iv%ortly after Mr. Shay and Mr. O'Brien arrived Mr. Evans died. His death was very sudden. Even those ibout him did not realize that the endiiad come.
