Burlington Genealogical Society to meetBURLINGTON—Dr. Reginald Horsman will speak on “God Gave Us This Country: American Expansion on an Indian Continent” during the Wednesday, March 19, Burlington Genealogical Society meeting.It will begin at 7 p.m in the Burlington Historical Society Museum, comer of Perkins Blvd. and Jefferson Street.Horsman, professor of history at UW-Milwaukee, has written extensively on the westward expansion, Indian policy, race and diplomacy in the 19th century America. Both the Native Americans and the European settlers who advanced across this continent believed they had a divine right to the land. Horsman also has authored 10 books and numerous articles examining clashing cultural assumptions and the roots of conflict between the two cultures.
