by Vanita TrippeDestin will make its first big splash on the college spring break scene when a concert featuring members of the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean tops off an activity-filled week here sponsored by Anheuser-Busch March 26-April 2.“We’re really looking forward to seeing all of you down in Destin,” said Anheuser-Busch associate sales promotion director Thomas B. Thomas, who calls himself the “oldest living spring breaker.”Five hotels in Destin/Fort Walton Beach area, including the Holiday Inn of Destin, will be participating in the program, which includes special poolside events and toll-free phones for vacationmg students to call anywhere in the U.S.A free concert featuring Mike Love of the Beach Boys and Dean Torrence of Jan and Dean, backed up by the Endless Summer Band, will be held at Wayside Park on Okaloosa-Island theafternoon of March 31.In addition to warm-up sets from local favorites The Trashy White Band and the Louisiana-based group Atchafalaya,’’ concert-goers may be in for a special surprise, as the Beach Boys will be giving a concert in Tallahassee that night and are expected to make a guest appearance.Other special activities planned for the weekare:* Appearances by Playmate Charlotte Kemp (December 1982 Centerfold) who will visit the poolside parties and activities and “probably show up at the concert,” according to a spokesperson for the promoting company.* Exhibitions by the Bud Light Frisbee Team which will be held beachside daily at the hotels.* Can exchanges, at which students can turn in empty Anheuser-Busch product cans for free gifts.
