He wastes no time hitting it bigSome actors wait a lifetime for a starring role in a movie or television show. Seven-year-old Geoffrey Buerger waited about two weeks.Buerger, a second-grader at Forest School in Des Plaines, will be featured in an upcoming episode of the weekly TV series “Rescue 911,” which re-enacts real-life emergency situations.The Des Plaines boy was chosen for the show during his first acting audition and just weeks after he decided he was interested in modeling and acting.“We never even expected an acting audition that quickly, so we were very surprised,” said Jean Buerger, Geoffrey’s mother. “We were coaching him all the way, telling him the audition was just practice and not to worry if he didn’t get the part.”In the TV show, Geoffrey plays the part of a boy from Grand Rapids, Mich., who was nearly strangled when the drawstring on his jacket caught as he was playing on a slide at a school playground. Geoffrey helped recreate the scene during 19 hours of filming.“It was hard, but it was fun ‘cause I got new friends there, and they were nice,” said Geoffrey, who admits he was a littleGeoffrey Buergernervous at first. “You also get lots of food afterwards.”The episode featuring Geoffrey is expected to air this month on Channel 2.Since the filming, the second-grader also has done some modeling, such as for a national hairstyle book for salons, and he is hoping for more acting jobs in the future.Around home, the boy continues to hone his acting skills and amuse his family by pretending to be animals, Power Rangers and other characters.Geoffrey — who is saving his modeling and acting earnings for college — also is looking ahead to future challenges.“When I grow up, I’m going to be either an actor or a football player. Maybe I could be both,” he said. “I like stuff when it gets harder and harder and so I learn more and more stuff.”—Kristy Bard
