July 10. and continuing through Wed., Aug. 21.Each of the hour-long sessions will begin at 10 a.m. and will he held in the Sun-day school room of the Federated church. 155th and Turlington. Mrs. John Pembroke and Mrs. Davis.* # *In addition to the story hours, the library is currently conducting its annual summer reading program for elementary school pupils.The program is designed to aid children in retaining their reading vocabulary during the summer and to encourage them to read more widely. CHILDREN enrolled in theSecond, third and fourth-grade pupils present oral book reports to their parents, who then submit notes to (he librarian certifying lhal (he children have read and understood the books the\ selected.* .. •' • #Fifth through eighth-grade students prepare written book reports which are examined by librarians to determine whether the children have understood the books they read.A record is kept of the number of books read by each student enrolled in the program. Pins are awarded to children completing five books during the summer, and certificates are awarded to students who read a totalof 15 books.LISTS of certificate winners are distributed to thestudents' schools.Enrollment in the program is still open.
