First All-year Ice Skating Rink In Iowa Is Now Under Construction ln,„Le Mars: Hope To Open In AugustNew Ice Surface Every Day Is Plan Of OperationConstuiclion work is well under way on Ihc first all-year ice skating rink in the state of Iowa, and almost the only one in the middle west. Except for the one being built here, the nearest one is at Omaha.The concrete sills for the floor, nnd part of the * framework arc already complete. The hulldinu began two months ago, Is located between the artificial lee plant and Goose Creek.Si/.e of the building will be I DUX 50 feel. Size of the ice rink will be 90X40 feel. This allows for an l.-shaped space on the east and south sides, where spectators and skaters can Vest. The floor on the east alley will be concrete. On the .southalley will be wood, so fhnt the Ice skates, which will be changed there, urc not dulled.Owner of the venture Is Kan-dull Stover, formerly of Orange CUy, who with his wife, moved to I.c Mars after buying the Ico plant, .lake Dykstru and Eldon Clement have done a lurgc part of the construction work. Mr. Dy-fcstra Is also engineer In cliurgo of the plant.The ice skating rink will be operated very much the same as a roller rink. Ice skate shoes will be furnished to patrons. Indoor ico skating will be provided both winters and summers.The building will, of course, be iusulnlicd. nnd with the frozen skating rink, there it will be plcusuntly cool in the hottest weather without further air conditioning.
