Wadena Girl Is*Miss Northwest*#Miss Vik To AttendAquatennial*Detroit Lakes, June 30—Miss Northwest, 1941, was crowned queen of the sixth annual Northwest water carnival here Sunday atmidnight. Miss Northwest, alias Miss Ruth Vik, Wadena, is 19 and blonde.She was selected from 15 candidates by a group of judges from the Minneapolis Aquatennial committee. About 5,000 people witnessed the judging and saw last year’s queen, Miss Lorine Moen, Mahnomen, place the crown on Miss Vik’s head. Miss Vik will attend the Aquatennial as Miss Detroit Lakes.Other candidates for the title, and crown were Miss Marjorie Ackre, Fargo; Miss Nona Aamoth, Twin Valley; Misses Okell Proll, Bernice Baker and Irene Enders, Wadena; Miss Marjorie Robinson and Ardith Glain, Mahnomen; Miss Delores Janssen, Bejou; Miss Eleanor Baker, Vergas; Miss Janet McCarthy, Valley City; Miss Georgia Spafford, Long Prairie; Misses lone Nyboe, Shirley Burgess and Delia Sammons, Detroit Lakes.
