Rescue Mission dorm renovation completeBy Naomi SchemmNews Herald Writer747-5070 / nschemm@pcnh.comPANAMA CITY Nate Williams and David Chandler credit the Panama City Rescue Mission for giving them a new purpose in life.Williams, a graduate of the agency’s rehabilitation program who, now works at Bay Behavioral Center, expressed the sentiment of many when he said he sees God’s work being done at the Rescue Mission.The two men gave personal testimonials Monday at a rib-: bon-cutting ceremony for the':*v'- *Want to give?To donate materials for the renovation, call 215-9007mission’s newly renovated dormitory, which can now house up to 20 men in a longterm addiction recovery program.“It just1 reinforces our purpose to provide an environment of recovery and care/’ said Amanda Harris, development director, “Having the separate dorms for the men really aids in their recovery.”Now, the men in the 6- to 12-month drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs can sleep inthe same area and enjoy the open recreation area. Space constraints had forced some men to sleep in the emergency center, which is intended for short-stay transients.Many volunteers contributing to the renovations were recognized at the ceremony. Beginning in mid-September 2003, local companies donated supplies and Haney Technical Center’s carpentry class donated Some labor for the dorms.
