FV Campus Senate Urges ExpansionContinuedsomething” about the school's crowded facilities. Senate members point out the school'sinadequate library, classroom and office space which Dean Hutson described as “built-in mistakes conceived in a different era when expectations were lower, when the goal of a commuter college was to provide a basic education, nothing else.Students agree with t h e criticism. Pointing out that a growth in student body from 79 in 1951 to over 600 expected next fall, required expanded facilities, the Senate felt that unless something is done now, the time may come when the campus will have to limit its admission and turn away qualified students because of the lack of space.After an appeal from Hutson and Senate Adviser Henry Spille, the Senate decided to take action on the problem. Students signed petitions pointing out the inadequate facilities and asking County Board members to support the school. The Senate will send the petitions to the County BoardsThe Senate then composedThen, too, Janet feels that parents should be interested in the situation because with their sons or daughters at the school, this should directly affect them. ” The student petitions showed that students care too, she said.The form letter which parents can send to their county board representative requests t h e board’s full support of the UWGB-Fox Valley Campus. The letter tells the board member that information concerning your support of maintenance and expansion of the University of Wisconsin Green Bav-Fox Valley Campus has shown that you are questioning continuing this support in the future.Renate Bmesewitz, a sophomore senator who plans on attending the new Green Bay University, probably best summed up the senate’s and students’ concern on the issue. We have a lot of faith in the campus and have been working especially hard this year to make it become a real part of UWGB. Just to think that the Fox Valley Campus wouldn’t be supported is sort of sad, isn’t it?
