-r -rPatty FriedrichNamed Queen OfParkston JubileeEvJarkillTo1rlf]trijIJoigaiPothlt;byBy LES HELGELAND Republic News Service Director PARKSTON Nineteen • year-old Patty Friedrich of Parkston was named “Queen of the Centennial” in the final night of Park-ston’s Diamond 'Jubilee celebration.Miss Friedrich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Friedrich, was a-mong the original 10 candidates lor the honor of queen and was selected as one of the three finalists along with Ruth Neugebauer and Mary ^Maxwell.The announcement of the Centennial Queen selection was made on the final night's program, just priorto the beard judging contest which brought down the curtain on the three • day celebration.Again thousands watched the big Jubilee Parade which was held Wednesday evening.Top winners in the heard judging contest included: well-kept— Lewis Baumiller of Parkston; most colorful — Leo D. Koenig of Ethan; longest — Carl Mar-quardt Sr., of Parkston and William Reichert of Parkston lt;tie); most terrible — William Schoon of Parkston and most beautiful— Ervin Herman of Parkston.Some $1,500 in prizes was a-warded to the winning floats in the parade which was held all three days.
