—Mr. S- Wilson brought iu a copy of Vol. 1, No. 2 ot the Brush Creek (nor Arlington) News of March 28, 1874. It is a very small affair and judging by its appearance at that time no one would have thought that it would have grown to its present porportious. It had at that time only four pages and three columns to the page, I. E.Osborn was the proprietor uamed at the head of the columns.Below we clip a few items that are interesting reading just at pres-ent:The young men who went to the woods to make sugar taking the material with them in a beer keg drank so much sugar that they had the headache for two days.This is dedicated to M. Lackey.If your neighbor’s hens trouble you And steal acrost the way.Don’t let your angry passions rise, But fix a place for them to lay. Election Notice.—There will be a meeting of the legal voters of district Township of Fairfield, in the county of Fayette, and State of Iowa. To be held on Saturday, April 4th 1874, at the Taylorsville School House in said Township. To vote for or against Independent School District Organization. Polls open at 9 o’clock a. ni.By order of the board of Directors.D. B. Allen, Secretary. Dated March 16th 1874.
