The Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department kept with their tradition of thankingthe citizens of Glenwood and other communities by having their annual chicken and strawberry feed on Monday, June 23.Approximately 200 of the 230 that were invited attended this feast. The 115 chickens prepared by Rape's Inn along with the French bread, cole slaw, and baked potatoes, were enjoyed by all. Anyone that walked away from this affair and complained of not having enough of the good stuff to eat must have been standing out in the alley.Just as everyone was loosening their belts after the main course, the firemen camp around with the strawberry shortcake topped with whipped cream. For those that were still hungry, there was still chicken and cole slaw for the takings. In the above picture, Bob Harms is fighting the temptation of the strawberry dessert. In the bottom picture, Wayne Boles, Roger Hockabout.Dlck LaKue, and Roger Sell are in the process of making up the second course of the evening. At the close of the evening, Chief Willard Stivers made it clear to those in attendance that this was the way the firemen were saying THANKS to those that have supported this fire and rescue unit.
