4* GEORGE IX LIMELIGHT •% Aft AIX—ALSO IN JAIL» »4* 4* v 4* 4* 4* ^ t 4* 4* 4* 4* 4* 4*The limelight has not burst with0 csuch glittering intesity upon George jt Brantlinger, distinguished son cf ■ t Fairview Park, since the time he; 5 and some other hard-working youngi (gentlemen set out to pry the public' r loose from nickles exchanged for, I handoigan harmony. George now steps to the front of the stage as a peace dove hovering over battling gladiators. It was in the gravel pit, north of Fairview, Sunday afternoon, where George asumed the role of referee, resulting in him getting a look at the interior of the Fairview cooler, along with Homer Butcher and Alvis Clappi, who had been probing for each others facial promontories. It is said the lads began j in fun, but that the match evoluted j into a marquis o£- queensberry debate minus the rules. George prc-hposed to furnish the rules and administer them. Marshal Pascoe inconsiderately butted in and took the gladiators and their overlord down to the bastile. Warrants were filed by some of the citizens, who are notianxious to have Fairview rob Reno of any of her laurels. The referee, and the somewhat battered debaters, were before Justice of the Peace S. T. Bonebrake, Monday evening, but4there were steps necssitating postponement until Wednesday evening. Friends of Referee George are puzzled now to know whether it’s the 100-degreo temperature or the worry over the soiling of his dignity, at being dragged Into jail and court, which is causing so many knobs of sweat about the size of crab apples to roll off his unctious exterior.
